Packaging 2.5/5
A pretty basic black mylar pouch, no terpene content or dominant terpenes listed, and I was a little surprised that they skipped out on using a humidity control package inside.
Visual Appeal 4/5
Decently sized buds, and they were beautifully hand trimmed. Lots of green and some orange hairs, not a ton of variety in colour, but very nice looking buds. I would have liked to see the trichomes stand out a little bit more though.
Bud Size 4/5
A little bigger than average buds, but not huge. The 3.5g bag was made up of 4 large buds and a couple small pieces to top it up.
Bud Density 4/5
These were very dense buds, but they crumbled on the squish a little bit from lack of humidity.
Moisture Level 2.5/5
Like I just mentioned, these buds were a little dry and did tend to crumble a little bit. I think it’s interesting that they chose not to use a humidity control package in here, because that really could have saved this one.
Trichome Density 3/5
This was a little underwhelming for me. Some trichomes could be seen, but they didn’t really stand out. You almost had to go looking for them.
Aroma 5/5
The aroma on this bag was absolutely incredible. It was a very heavy limonene and terpinolene smell.
Taste 3/5
I really love terpinolene, it’s one of my favourite terpenes. It has such a delicious taste, and that unique aroma that can’t be missed. Effect wise, it tends to play a sedating role in some strains to help “chill”. But I was a little disappointed that I got none of the flavour that I got from the aroma. No limonene, no terpinolene, not really much of anything special that comes through. Immediately went to clean my bong thinking it was me, but even with a clean bong I didn’t get any specific flavours.
Smoothness 3/5
A little bit harsh, I found myself choking quite a bit on my first bowl. After cleaning my bong I was expecting a smoother hit, but still kind of harsh.
Potency 3.5/5
Effects were okay. No burnout, and no sativa-based anxiety kicking in. I smoked a couple bowls and then went to run some Christmas shopping in the evening. The next morning it was also smoked as a Wake n Bake and it was very mild. I wasn’t hoping to go back to bed, didn’t find myself spacing out, and was able to keep easily focused on my to do list.
Duration of Effects 4/5
Effects lasted a little over an hour before I found myself wanting to top up a little bit.
Overall 38.5 / 55 (70%)
This was a little bit underwhelming for me. Visually, it looked fantastic, but I found that it was lacking a little bit on the smoke. A little dry for my liking, and missed some of the flavours I was expecting based on the aroma. Honestly, I think I went into this expecting something a little better and it led to some disappointment. I love True Fire as a whole, and it’s great to see some craft offerings that are coming in near that $30 point, but this one kind of missed the mark for me. A pretty average bag all around.
