Review
Packaging 4/5
A pretty standard mylar pouch with a Boveda pack included for humidity. They also included the dominant terpenes, some aroma and flavour markers, the lineage, as well as credit to Purple Farm for pheno hunting this selection. I was happy with the amount of information on the package, just forever not a fan of the mylar pouch. If they wanted to go with the mylar pouch, then they definitely still have room for additional consumer information. I’ve seen some really incredible mylar packaging come out of BC that I’d like to see more of here in Ontario.
Visual Appeal 3.5/5
The buds were nicely trimmed and varied in size, from small popcorn to some decent size buds. There was a fair bit of stem left behind. The buds themselves were a variety of colours from purple to orange mixed in with the light green. Trichomes were a little hard to see, I would have liked to see a little more for that “wow” factor.
Bud Size 3.5/5
There wasn’t a ton of consistency in the bag, some small stuff, but there were a few buds in there that I’d consider to be above average in size.
Bud Density 3/5
These buds could have been a little more dense. Some were rather loose and airy.
Moisture Level 3/5
At the time of opening this wasn’t too bad, the Boveda seemed to be doing its job. By the second day it was noticeably drier, and by the third day it was done.
Trichome Density 2.5/5
The colours were pretty, but there weren't a ton of trichomes to see without the aid of a scope or a loupe.
Aroma 4/5
This smelled really incredible and impressed me the moment I opened the bag, before I even had a chance to look at the buds yet. This was quite heavy on the myrcene, and had a pleasant floral smell behind it as well.
Taste 4/5
My first thought about this was based on the name, and I was expecting a lot of citrus. However, I was so pleased and pleasantly surprised when I smoked this bowl. The flavour is dominated by that myrcene that overpowered the aroma, giving a really heavy earthy “kushy” flavour on the forefront. But I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted with a slice of Grape Pie on the exhale. It was delicious, and really highlighted all aspects of its lineage, from the gas-fueled Rntz and MAC, to the sweet taste of grape.
At first I was a little unsure why it was called Lime Mac. There was very little citrus of any kind coming through at the initial time of opening. However, after letting it sit overnight I found that it took on a lot more of a limonene profile and lost a touch of that grape. It was still very tasty though.
Smoothness 3.5/5
You know sometimes when you find some decent bud, and it hurts really good? You choke a little, but not enough to suffocate you? Just enough to remind you that you’re smoking some decent bud? Yeah. That’s what this stuff is kind of like.
Could it be a little smoother? Sure. Did I enjoy it? Sure did.
Potency & Effects 4/5
Approach with caution, this is not a lightweight sativa. I’m starting to question what “indica” and “sativa” even mean on the labels anymore - was this just a really tall plant? Because she is a really heavy hitter with some really heavy effects (She’s also a cross of 3 pretty indica-dominant strains?)But if the linalool didn’t get a chance to shine in the flavour category, it’s certainly getting its time to shine here.
I was surprised when the indica I was smoking earlier in the evening wasn’t cutting it after a gram or two. When I pulled out this sativa, I had very low expectations, but one bowl of this before bed was enough for me to turn the lights out. I gave this another chance the next day around mid-day, and found myself very lazy and unmotivated to do much for the day. As I finish writing this, I will probably smoke one more and head straight to bed.
Duration of Effects 5/5
Honestly, this was really solid, but only if you’re looking for some sedating effects. Not everybody is looking for something like that in a day time sativa, and I wouldn’t recommend this as anybody’s Wake n Bake unless they planned to go straight back to bed. A couple bowls of this during the day had me moving pretty slowly for hours. Smoking this before bed had me asleep all night without tossing and turning before 6 am.
Overall 40/55 (73%)
I enjoyed this a lot more than I was anticipating. I initially was going to overlook this bag, but I chose it because I usually love anything that comes from MAC-1. There is just something about it that I don’t find a lot here on the legal market that reminds me of old school legacy pink kush, so every time I see something that is a MAC-1 cross I’m eager to try it out. I was intrigued because this is catalogued as a sativa. Oh, and did I mention - I really love grape strains.
Although this was not going to be the sativa that keeps me awake, energized, and ready to take on the day, this was a product I was happy I didn’t miss out on. This was a really pleasant smoke, from the aroma to the flavour to the effects. I paid $50 for this 7g bag from Sessions Cannabis, which for a Tweed brand I feel is a little on the high end. However, Canna Cabana sells this for under $44 which I’d consider to be more than fair pricing so be sure to shop around or check HiBuddy before going out. This was 25.9% THC and just under 2% terps with some really big effects. Depending on the consumer, I’d be pretty happy to recommend this product.
