Versus came out with another flavor for their Neon Rush guarana soda, Cali Blast. Mountain Dew can sleep easy at night knowing no one still has cracked the Baja Blast formula. While the first Neon Rush flavor was a pretty good Mountain Dew alike, this fell quite short. This does not mean it was bad but just didn't hit the mark they were aiming for. The flavor was pretty average with a vague tropical pineapple mango ish vibe. I could taste the guarana easier in this flavor though, so that might come across as a stronger herbal flavor to folks who notice it and don't already associate guarana as its own flavor. 

The carbonation could be stronger but I have noticed lately in drinks the carbonation levels being all over the place even in the same brands. The high did feel more energetic to me between the distillate and the caffeine so wasn't really an evening drink for me. It was chuggable enough to finish quickly but not enough to finish in one drink. I think I still like the first flavor better just because it is a little more distinct and meshes better with the guarana flavor. I kind of wish that they would skip the Mountain Dew copies and find flavors that mesh better with the guarana. There are only so many good flavors of Mountain Dew and if they can’[t copy them more precisely then it’s just going to come across very poorly.
