Review

Two things I am a big fan of are Green Monké, and more recently, CBD. I loved both of Green Monké's Mango Guava and Orange Passionfruit so when I found a perfectly dosed 2:1 beverage with a full 10mg of THC, I was eager to give this a try.

Packaging 5/5

This came in a tall can with similar styling to the rest of their lineup. The design is pretty minimalistic with their logo in a larger bright yellow font, with the flavour and dose subtly printed above. The choice of consumer accessible CR packaging was a huge bonus here.

Visual Appeal 4/5

This was a surprisingly fluorescent shade of emerald green. I'm not sure why I was so surprised, but it was certainly eye-catching and matched the can. I feel like the score on this is subjective based on how you feel about colours in your beverages.

Aroma/Taste 5/5

Like all Green Monké beverages, this was delicious. It was a very tropical-forward taste with a hint of something citrusy that I couldn't quite identify. It was very lightly carbonated for easy drinkability. I love it for that reason, but could have maybe used a tad more bubbles.

I like my beverages sweet, and this is still perfectly sweetened to satisfy any sweet tooth while still remaining low in sugar. This comes in at 5g a can, and just 25 calories which makes it an option everyone can consider. What I really like is that I don't have to compensate on flavour. This is not a sparkling water - it is a full bodied soda.

Effects 5/5

I always say that by default, my score for edibles or bevvies is a 3/5, or “average” until Health Canada raises the THC limits on edibles. But I would be lying through my teeth right now if I said I'm not feeling nice and tingly, no doubt thanks to the 20mg of CBD. It started in my feet and slowly worked its way up my legs. The onset took about 10 minutes, and the effects surprisingly lasted a good chunk of time. When I felt the effects kick in, I was waiting for it to disappear just as fast like edibles usually do for me. But this kept creeping up and peaked around an hour, and then gently faded away.

Overall               19/20 (95%)

Green Monké has nailed it again with another incredible beverage. I am the first person to complain that our beverages here in Canada don't typically have much effect for the seasoned stoner.  In fact, I can count on two fingers the number of times I think I've felt an effect from legal edibles and both times were the same brand: Green Monké. I have no idea what they are doing differently, but it works. They also really showcase the benefits of CBD and the entourage effect.

I would consider this to have heavy effects (relative to the 10mgs) with a rapid onset and rapid offset. I was surprised when I noticed the effects starting to kick in around 10 minutes. The climb was really nice all the way to the peak, and just when you think it's starting to fade away, it's gone without any negative side effects or a crash.
