Green Jay Electronic Lighter Bought at TruGreen Cumberland Price: $22.39
Lighters, unfortunately, such a useful tool to the cannabis community also come with environmental waste. If you have the too-common BIC lighter that we all have a drawer full of, the most common way of disposing of a lighter is by throwing it in the garbage. If a lighter makes it to the garbage that is, the most common item that falls out of the pocket or accidentally into your friend's pocket. Or maybe you're a collector of Clippers that while they are refillable with butane, which is an environmental hazard in itself, Clippers are still very likely to be “BICed” So what’s an eco-conscious Stoner to do when it comes to lighting joints, and bowls.
Introducing the Green Jay E-Lighter this circular lighter charges via USB and boasts of being windproof and the solution to the woes of lighter waste at an affordable price. But will this e-lighter stand against the tried and true BIC and Clipper? *As this is my first accessory review we’re just going to keep it simple in a detailed Pro and Cons list*
Pro:
The sleek design feels nice in the palm of your hand, even for folks with smaller hands.
With taxes added on this e-lighter boasts a pretty good price point compared to other e-lighters on the market
No harmful chemicals like butane are involved at all
Get the full flavour of the joint due to the combustion
It is indeed windproof
Rechargeable
Cons:
No way to tell when the battery is low
Uses micro USB which is not as common now
Can only light a joint or a blunt with it due to the coil being a hole
You are supposed to blow inside the hole to clean the coil and it always goes in deeper
I have yet to meet a cannabis consumer who doesn’t just have a drawer full of lighters in their house
So would I buy this again or recommend my friends to get it? Now while the Pros do outweigh the Cons. I wouldn’t buy this again due to the biggest Con of them all. A consumer could only light a joint or a blunt and that’s just not the cannabis market. The fact that it also doesn’t have any indicator as to whether I need to charge is always a negative for me. Now a reason why you might want to purchase this device is to have something fancy solely for a Cannabis Cup tasting or an industry event and want to show off a bit. But if you're the more everyday Clark Kent of cannabis consumers, just stick to your BIC or Clipper and add in some hemp wick to add a cleaner taste and less butane to your smoke.
