Cake & Caviar - Blueberry Yum Yum 3.5g
26.5% THC
2.45% Terpenes: Limonene, Caryophyllene, Farnesene
$36 at Thisel
Lineage: Platinum Cake x BC Blueberry OG
Packaging 4/5
This came in a red mylar pouch, without a humidity pack in it. Listed on the package were the cannabinoid and terpene percentages, as well as the dominant terpenes and lineage for this cultivar. Unfortunately, I had a hard time with opening the packaging. The top that should be capable of tearing off seemed faulty and scissors were required. However, I appreciated some of the information provided on the back of the packaging like the cure time, method of growing, and lineage.
Visual Appeal 5/5
Absolutely gorgeous buds! The 3.5g bag was made up of 4 buds. They had a multitude of colours from dark green, light green, and purple and had especially long orange hairs to it. All the colours seemed to be brightened from the white frosty layer of trichomes covering everything. When ground up, this was extra purple.
Bud Size 4/5
Above average sized buds, no small popcorn.
Bud Density 3/5
This was unfortunately where we lacked a little bit. It wasn’t too dense, and seemed to break off the stem when the squish test was applied.
Moisture Level 3.5/5
Similar to bud density, this area lacked a little bit and I think they really could have benefited from the use of a humidity control pack. It was a little bit dry right upon opening, which worries me about how this bag would keep for more than a couple of days. But all things considered, I’ve seen much worse products.
Trichome Density 4.5/5
These buds were nicely coated in a white coating of trichomes that were easily visible to the naked eye.
Aroma 3.5/5
This had a really delicious blueberry aroma to it, though slightly muted. However, there was no doubting what the smell was.
Taste 4/5
Like the aroma, I found the flavour to be somewhat muted. I picked up on a lot of the farnesene, giving it a really lovely flavour, but I wasn’t getting a lot of the blueberry. Definitely more of a cake flavour to it. However, I’ll be the first to admit that blueberry is the most challenging flavour that I typically struggle to pick up on (in any blueberry strain).
Smoothness 5/5
This was as smooth as butter. I have asthma, so I always expect at least a little bit of irritation from smoking. This actually surprised me because I was bracing myself for the cough to come, and it never did. It also burned flawlessly in a bowl, and we all know that the burn affects the cough.
Potency 4/5
This wasn’t the kind of indica that was going to knock you out, but this makes for a really lovely daytime indica. I was in a really good headspace while making dinner and felt very relaxed. That being said, I also smoked some before going to the gym and about 40 minutes into cardio I could feel myself getting really burned out.
Duration of Effects 4/5
This was really nice, I didn’t find myself with the urge to go top-up my high or anything like that. I found myself quite content for a couple hours.
Overall 44.5/55 (81%)
This was a really great smoke, and I actually feel bad for “only” scoring it an 81%. They skipped out on including something for humidity control, and ultimately I feel like that directly affected the score for a couple of categories, but it was still fantastic. However, I have to wonder what the flavour might have been like if this wasn’t skipped. Visually speaking, these were stunning, and every bowl tasted delicious. If you’re looking to treat yourself to something boujee, this caviar has got you covered.
