The Dymond DSD (Do-si-do) shatter has been around the market for a while but I figured I'd give it a try to see why it was popular for a while but seems to have dropped off a bit in my area. They do package it in a little packet. I know they used a plastic tin for a bit but switched to a more space saving mylar baggie. I kind of love and hate the parchment packet. It does make it easy to get out of the baggie but also tends to scatter bits everywhere as small bits pop off the paper. It was easy enough to handle otherwise.
Unlike some shatters I have tried, this one did not get sticky or taffy like as it warmed but stayed crisp. This also had a lot of flavor in my Yocan Orbit though not much aroma even after sitting out. On low was probably the most palatable. It was very lemon cleaner, with a kind of citrus and forest taste and a slight bit of gas to add to the chemical feel. The vapor was smoother than I expected given the nature of the flavor. On medium It started to taste more medicinal but still cleaning chemical like. It almost reminded me of furniture polish. High it was very reminiscent of Vicks or Tiger Balm with a strong eucalyptus flavor.
So it has a lot of flavor for a cheap shatter but not the most pleasant ones. The high was nice but simple. It felt very strong as a one note head high. It was very fast to come on and definitely felt stronger than the percentage on the packet. With all those elements, I can see why many folks would like it but there are many better tasting options now including some from Dymond themselves.
