I wanted Sun Coast Cannabis' Bubba Boom to be good. I really liked the two other strains they released. Sadly it was not to be. The first one I got ended up with mold issues, granted it was very tiny mold issues that were only seen under the scope and had only just started to affect the buds. They were super awesome about replacing it and with a really fresh replacement. Though they really should have used a box as it got majorly squashed in transit since it was just in a padded envelope and likely went through the mail sorter machines. Unfortunately, something else, likely bud rot or similar did go wrong again. It was green on the outside and light brown on the inside. Granted staging them against their own packaging made them look more brown then they actually were. I kind of wonder if this strain has a moisture problem given the issues I’ve seen in it.

Honestly I was more frustrated with trying to find information about what went wrong than with the flower itself. There really is not a lot of information out there about the progression of issues in cannabis from start to finish. I could find lots of images of bud rot after it had molded strongly or how it looks while growing. What there wasn’t almost any at all was how it looked right when it first started. This is a common problem I have as someone new to all things cannabis even still because I don’t have a long history of encountering these issues beyond overt levels of mold. So much education about cannabis is still focused on the very entry level basics of what is cannabis and very little about what could be wrong with your cured dried buds. This isn’t helpful to sellers or buyers since I could easily see someone thinking well it must still be fine and normal because there are no overt signs of mold or fungus.

I could literally taste it trying to be better than it was during the smoke. It had a very nice aroma of citrus and herbal that just disappeared on grinding. It did grind all right, not turning to dust or being soggy which was why I tried smoking it. Smoking it was pretty generic but at no point did it smell or taste moldy and it was actually a really smooth smoke. I also had a fairly mild high that came across as more balanced between indica and sativa. There were no strong effects for me either mental or physical either.  I'd probably still give Sun Coast another shot but not this strain. It is frustrating since the hint I got from the aroma showed that it could have had a lot of promise.
