Tale #1

There have been plenty of experiences and I’m sure if you haven't heard from at least one of us about the crazy things we encounter behind the counter you will now…

I guess my first story was right at the beginning of it all. I was still super new and I haven't really gotten comfortable with the customers or the rules yet. Thankfully I wasn’t alone for this one, a lady with a stroller came up to us outside (my coworker - who was training me and myself). I knew off the bat she wasn’t going to come inside with the sleeping baby in the stroller - that's another point ill get into later. She asked if one of us would watch the stroller while she went inside to make a purchase. My coworker said fine and I opened the door and went inside to serve her. I will stress this ONE MORE TIME, I am new I haven’t gotten the feel for the products or the customer base and she didn’t know what she wanted. I'm pretty sure I pulled out one of everything for her to make up her mind, she purchased her preroll and left.

There wasn’t one moment that my mom brain wasn't like why did you leave your baby with a total stranger?! How could you trust someone you didn’t know just to pop into the dispensary for a joint? I don’t know about you but I don't get paid enough to run down the street after someone that might have taken off with said stroller.

That leads into my next point. I get the rules, I follow the rules, don’t get me wrong but I don't agree with them all. Not allowing children into a dispensary when accompanied by an adult is unjust. Just like at the movies, they are there to teach their child and with that it should not be hidden, that just adds to the stigma. You can allow underage children to run amok in the liquor and beer stores where there are more breakable items and you CAN SEE everything out on display. Any dispensary I’ve walked into has been very minimal in what you can see and they couldn’t touch live products even if they wanted to.

Being brought up in the age when our parents would smoke cigarettes and drink around us and now that's the same generation that looks down at us smoking a joint near our kids. I’m over the stigma, I can function way more cohesively than if I was inebriated and my kids have way more fun!

Stay tuned for the next opinionated story :P
