Carmel - High Fructose Corn
Syrup
With The holidays right around the corner, my appetite yearns for sweet things.
HFCS from Carmel sounds like a fantastic choice, let's get a bit more in-depth with
it!
Format: Flower, 3.5g Mylar bag
Pkg Date: Oct 30, 2023
THC: 29.6% CBD: 0.07%
Terpenes: 2.28% - Farnesene, Caryophyllene, Limonene
Method of Inhalation: 18 inch Glass Ice Beaker
Bag Appeal: As expected when I opened the bag, I was presented with some lovely, frost
buds. 5 buds made the bag. 3 medium and a couple of smaller ones. The smell was muted,
that part was unexpected.
Trim: The trim is consistent with previous offerings I've had from Carmel. Tight and dense,
free of excess stems and sugar leaves. The buds had a conical shape, with some slight fox-
tailing. Trichome structures were about 40% intact. Still looked pretty though! Not much to be
said in terms of colours, a range of faded greens, with some orange-brown pistils. As far as
moisture, the buds had a consistency that reminded me of a fresh ginger snap, slightly moist
enough to hold together, but with a little squish, it crumbled up easily.
Smell: The first sniff gave off a slightly muted cooking spice scent, savory maybe, silver sage
even. Cracking a bud, opened up to a muted sweetness that was reminiscent of....corn syrup.
Taste: Things get a bit confusing here. The smell does not translate well to the taste. At first,
slightly sweet, but not long after exhaling I tasted a woody, skunky, blandness.
Microbial: The buds don't have any signs of bugs, Budrot, or mold. I did not detect any
other contaminants either.
Burn/Ash: The burn was decent if nothing else. Mostly white ash, with a few grey flakes in
the mix., and burned down well. No residuals, (salts, etc).
Voyage: Things slide downhill a tad here, based on the price paid vs overall quality. The
high is balanced. I didn't experience a huge kick, very much more on the lighter side. I felt very
calm, probably from the caryophyllene-limonene combo. There was also a tad bit of euphoria,
the kind that makes ya lean and wobble a bit. Lol. Overall not a bad trip, but also not worth the
price for just pretty smoke.
I wouldn't repurchase this specific offering, but, I always look forward to the consistency offered
by Carmel.
