Packaging 3/5

Shiny green bag that has their logo on the top right corner. It had all your basic information, including cannabinoid and terpene percentages, but they didn’t list the individual terpenes, or any of the harvest or growing information. At the least, I would have liked to see a breakdown of dominant terpenes since they listed the total terpene percentage. Pretty simple all around. They didn’t include anything for humidity control, which surprised me a little bit, but I’m also not the biggest fan of them either so that was fine by me. The flower wasn’t dried out at all, so I”m not bothered.

Visual Appeal 4/5

This was very nicely trimmed, with no excess leaf or stem left. I was expecting some small buds, but this was just two big buds and three little popcorn pieces to top up the bag. The buds were a light green with orange hairs, and covered with a sprinkling of trichomes that could be easily seen to the naked eye. Under the scope, this was still very pretty, with  trichomes mostly on the more translucent to milky side.

Bud Size 4/5

This came with two larger buds, coming in at 1g and 1.5g each. They included three smaller buds to top it up. Total bag contents was 3.51g

Bud Density 5/5

Very dense buds, with only a bit of squish to them. No loose pockets or anything to them.

Moisture Level 4.5/5

Despite not having a humidity packet, this had a great moisture level to it. When I went for the squish, the buds were dense, but there was no cracking of dry buds or crumbling in any way. For the typical consumer, this was pretty much ideal. I’m the odd-one-out who likes my buds really fresh, but thats just my subjectivity. I was smoking this three weeks out from the packaging date, so I’d be curious how it holds up to long-term shelf life without the humidity control.

Aroma 4/5

This had such a distinct aroma to it that maybe it wasn’t the end of the world they didn’t put the terpenes on the bag - you couldn’t miss them. Heavier on the terpinolene and myrcene, with some lighter notes of limonene underneath. I love terpinolene, it’s one of my favorite terpenes, so I was in heaven. As distinct as this aroma was, it wasn’t quite as strong as I was expecting for something with 3.5% terpenes. I was expecting to be really punched in the nose.

Taste 3.5/5

This was very tasty, and tasted just like the smell. Sometimes I find that terpinolene can get lost or muted by any notes of citrus, but this was more on the herbal side with some lighter notes of citrus that gave a lovely complex taste to it. But similarly to the aroma, I was left wanting just a little more.

Smoothness 5/5

I found this one to be very smooth and asthmatic-friendly. Produced pretty much no coughing.

Effects 4/5

I wasn’t expecting this to be quite as heavy as it was. It didn’t produce any racing thoughts or anything, but it gently eased any anxiety and racing thoughts I may have already had and helped me slow down. At first, I just wanted to relax and enjoy my evening with some music, which was fine while I was standing up and doing things around my apartment. Once I went to actually sit down, the sedation slowly crept in and secured me to the couch.

Burnout 2/5

Do not be fooled by the citrus notes or sativa labeling, this flower is not a wake n bake cultivar for me. Whether I smoked this in the evenings, or first thing in the morning, I was asleep before I knew what hit me.

Overall 41/50 (82%)

My expectations were not high from a craft offering under $30, but I’m glad I found this one. I think subconsciously, the price tag set the bar a little low, but I was immediately impressed as soon as I opened up the bag. The smell was nice, the buds looked nice, and there was no leafy crap at the bottom that I can’t smoke. This hit a lot heavier than I was expecting, which was the pleasant surprise I think I needed at the end of a crazy week.

I’m not a huge fan of the packaging, but to bring such fair pricing to the end consumer, somethings got to give. I think the industry as a whole is starting to turn away from plastic jars anyway, but I’m not a fan of the bags. This was my first experience with Bud Lafleur, and it won’t be my last. Price to quality ratio for this was on point and I’d be happy to recommend this product.
