Review
Been a while since I’ve consumed anything from Eastcann, but historically speaking I’ve always really enjoyed the stuff they’ve grown. So today we’re cracking open a tin of Chemdozer to see how it is.
Packaging 2/5
Okay, so typically I love the tuna can packaging. If you’ve been buying bud since the legacy days, you know the cans are where it’s at. I still enjoy getting tuna cans in the legal market just for a bit of nostalgia. However… This was not good. The lid was defective and couldn’t actually be turned. I had to take a bottle opener and pry the lip off and actually get into the can. Because it’s a tin can, there’s no way you could puncture the container if you needed to. I was also a little disappointed that at this price point, there are no terpenes listed on the package, or even the total terpene content. Because of the lack of accessibility here, they lost a few points.
Visual Appeal 4.5/5
Gorgeous, green buds that were HUGE! The processing team at Eastcann did a great job with the trim and cure as well. A few trichomes were easily visible to the naked eye.
Bud Size 5/5
The 3.5g jar was made up of one massive 3g bud, and a smaller half gram piece to top up the jar. Definitely one of the largest buds I’ve pulled out of a 3.5g container to date.
Bud Density 5/5
Excellent bud density! These were very firm without being rocks, and had very little crumble to it as well.
Moisture Level 4/5
I’m always a little disappointed that tuna cans rarely come with humidity packages. The biggest issue I have with these containers is that after opening the tin, it doesn’t really stay sealed and my buds always dry out within 24 hours. I immediately swapped them from the tuna can into my CVault container, but it didn’t help save this one. At the time of opening, this was a perfect jar. However, 24h later and these were dry as hay. A bit of a shame really…
Trichome Density 3.5/5
A light layer of trichomes was visible, but would have liked a little bit more to it.
Aroma 5/5
Absolutely phenomenal aroma to the jar. I was expecting more of that chem-y smell that usually comes with Chemdawg strains, but this was like a heavy indica kushy smell. It’s been a while since I’ve got a jar that really nails that aroma, but this was fantastic.
Taste 4/5
Similar to the aroma, I got some of that earthy/kushy taste that could be picked up in the smell, but I wanted a little more.
Smoothness 5/5
A very smooth smoke, no coughing or asthmatic irritation.
Potency 5/5
This was a really good Slow Me Down smoke. Novice-users beware, this one will likely put you straight into the couch. One night after work I was intending to go to the gym and get some cardio in, but after smoking a bowl first I immediately changed my mind and did nothing for the rest of the night. The next morning I tried this as a wake and bake and it was definitely a slow morning. I got a little bit of mild anxiety from this one, but I’ve been really struggling with my anxiety levels this week.
Duration of Effects 5/5
This was really solid. Sometimes I find myself smoking back-to-back bowls when I can’t slow myself down at the end of the night. This was not one of those strains. When smoked in the morning, I’m pretty mellowed out and content until mid-afternoon.
Overall 48/55 (87%)
Overall, this was a really fantastic jar. I just wish that they would have included a Boveda pack to assist with bud longevity. But the aroma was great, the effects were great, and this was pretty fairly priced. Highly recommend this jar, assuming that consumers are able to get into theirs. I’ll assume my issue was a one-off until I start hearing back from customers having the same problem.
