Review

This has been an incredibly popular mover at my store in recent months, and being a Catalog Completionist is something I pride myself on. Lowkey has a long history of producing consistent quality at an affordable price and staying true to their MTL vision. So let’s get into this bag and see how Cookie’z holds up to the rest of the line up. 

Packaging 4/5

This was packaged in a magenta mylar pouch, including an integra boost pack for humidity control, as well as total terpene content, dominant terpenes, and strain lineage (Platinum Cookies x Ice Cream). While I’m not a fan of the mylar pouches, they did include pretty much all the necessary information. I’d love to know the percentage of each terp, but I’m not going to be that picky. There are many premium brands that don’t list any of that information, so to see it on a “value” brand is really nice (I use “Lowkey” and “Value” in the same sentence pretty loosely here, don’t hate me). I also love the way they change their logo to match the colour of the bags for each cultivar. It’s subtle, but it’s great. 

Visual Appeal 2/5

Visually this bag wasn’t great. The buds were quite small, and some pieces had burned leaves. In the past, I’ve seen all kinds of stuff coming out of legal jars. But this is the first time I’m seeing noticeably yellow leaves. Could be excess heat/light, but it’s more likely a nutrient deficiency. Though this should have been caught at the trimming stage… 

Bud Size 2/5

Very small buds in this bag. The 7g was made up of about a dozen small pieces and some of the buds you’d see were just a couple little crumbs attached to a stick. I see that Lowkey now makes pre-rolls (Dessert) and honestly, some of these buds shouldn’t have been sold in a bag of flower. They should have absolutely gone to the pre-roll department. 

Bud Density 3/5

Not great. Some buds looked like one bud, but when you went to squish any buds and check on density they started to come apart from the stem. 

Moisture Level 3/5

I’m glad they included a boost pack here. Moisture content was okay, but by the third day it was pretty dry. 

Trichome Density 4/5

Pretty trichome heavy! 

Aroma 4.25/5

Not sure that I’ve ever given a 0.25 of a point before, but a 4 wasn’t quite high enough and 4.5 would have been a little too generous. The aroma was very pleasant, heavy on the myrcene and nerolidol for sure, but it left me wanting more. One thing I can always count on from any MTL product is a robust terpene profile, and this one was dominant in Limonene, Myrcene, Nerolidol, Linalool, and Caryophyllene. 

Taste 3/5

Pretty average on the flavour aspect, I didn’t really get as much of a sensory experience as I did on the aroma. 

Smoothness 4/5

A little bit of coughing, to be expected from an asthmatic bong smoker, but not too bad at all. 

Potency 5/5

This was really good, but this is not a sativa. I smoked two bowls one night after work and found myself falling asleep on the couch shortly after. The next morning, I smoked some and did some shoveling. I was not motivated to do this, and found myself very lazy for the rest of the day to tend to the rest of my responsibilities. Without a doubt, this was more of an indica, or at the very least, a hybrid smoke. 

Duration of Effects 5/5

Not only was this heavy, but it lasted a while. I noticed one day on the way to the dog park I was feeling very stoned. You know those times when you’re hoping you aren’t so high that everyone else notices? Yeah it was one of those… On the way home about an hour and a half later I couldn’t believe how stoned I still was. Definitely a heavier daytime smoke.

This was a little bit all over the map for me. From a sensory perspective, there was nothing special about this bag. Visually, aromatically, and flavour-wise, this was very underwhelming. But the smoke was really not what I was expecting. This was a lot heavier than I was expecting, and far from a sativa. However, I was already hesitant to believe this is a sativa as soon as I read that this was a cross of Platinum Cookies and Ice Cream. How did they get a sativa out of that? If I was specifically chasing a flower with sativa effects, I might be disappointed by this one. But I was pleasantly surprised by the effects. This might be one bag from Lowkey I don’t particularly recommend. I feel like if I’m going to recommend a product, and put my seal of approval on it, it better have a real “wow” factor to it. The effects were good, but it missed the mark on a few too many other categories for me to want to pass that bag along to a customer.  

Foggy
