Tale #2

This one I think every budtender has experienced at least one time in their tenure.

It goes a little something like this… “Hey, Do you have a piece of ID on you?”

Then the responses vary between: “I’m like 35, I shouldn’t have to show my ID”

“I am old enough to be your parent” or my personal fave “Oh, I didn’t bring it in.”

First of all this industry is still fairly new and we are all working together to get through this. If you think you are better than the people behind the counter then kindly shop somewhere else!! It is NOT worth my livelihood to let you grab your purchase without a valid piece of ID, no matter how many excuses or reasons you give me. Moreover, you most likely drove here and if you don’t have your license on you the police won’t let it slide if they pull you over.

I have been cussed at, stepped to and made feel like I was doing wrong when I was only following rules set in place for a new industry to flourish. Maybe in 10-15 years you won’t need ID to get in but just at the point-of-sale, much like the LCBO and beer stores.

Most of us weren’t alive yet during the prohibition of alcohol. With the stories I’ve been told this is following suit very closely. You used to have to tell the clerk what drink(s) you wanted, they would go into the backroom and bring it out.

Sound similar? Exactly.

The next time you go to a dispensary, ask yourself. Am I prepared? Do I have my ID and my attitude in check? I get having a shitty day but don’t take it out on someone who just wants to make your day better! Even better having a general idea of what you're looking for; do you want an uplifting effect or do you wanna relax?
