Review

This Holiday season, 7ACRES released a dual-strain 14g bag, which includes two different 7g flowers in one package. Their cultivars include an indica, PepperMint Krypt, and a sativa, Ultra Jolly Jack.

Packaging           1 / 5

As if mylar bags weren’t already awful, 7ACRES came out with possibly the worst mylar bag we have ever seen. This is one massive bag that looks like it can be cut down the middle. On the top, you’ll notice two zippers that divide the package in half. One half holds your sativa flower, while the other half holds your indica flower. The bags they used were massive and could easily hold an ounce each. The zipper seals are also not very accessible. Zippers don’t tend to give me issues, but I couldn’t actually open this bag unassisted. We were surprised when we noticed that even after the initial opening, its still very difficult to re-open. My next issue with this was the lack of consistency on the package. They included the total terpene percentage, as well as the dominant terpenes for Ultra Jolly Jack, but didn’t list anything for PepperMint Krypt. It would have been nice to see the numbers for both. They also only included a humidity pack in one cultivar, but not the other. Overall, there were a lot of little inconsistencies that could have really improved the score for this one.

Visual Appeal 3.5 / 5

Both cultivars were nicely trimmed and had some frosty buds with trichomes that could easily be seen with the naked eye. The PepperMint Krypt was especially covered! There was a fair bit of popcorn in both bags though. To be fair to the photos below, I think I smoked half the bag before I realized I forgot my bud shots. These photos don't really do it justice.

Bud Size 2.5 / 5

This wasn’t exactly anything special. Pretty average size buds, maybe even verging on the small side. There was a fair bit of popcorn in both sides.

Bud Density 3 / 5

Not super dense, these buds had a decent amount of squish room to them but definitely had room for improvement.

Moisture Level 3.5 / 5

This was strange because only one of the cultivars included a humidity pack. The buds were still fresh, and I probably would have scored this a little higher if both sides included the humidity pack. However, I’m not always a huge fan of humidity packs. Despite not having one, both sides of the pack were at an acceptable humidity level.

Trichome Density 4 / 5

Easily visible trichomes with the naked eye. The PepperMint Krypt was completely covered in unmistakable white. Unfortunately I didn't have access to my scope for this review though, so that's all I can really say about that.

Aroma 4.5 / 5

Ultra Jolly Jack had a very heavy smell of terpinolene - a fresh, herbal and citrusy smell. The PepperMint Krypt has a very unique pungent, sour smell that comes from its 91K lineage. If you’ve ever smoked DOJA’s 91K you’ll know exactly what smell I’m talking about, but it comes through almost identically in this offering.

Taste 4.5 / 5

The terpinolene and caryophyllene in the Ultra Jolly Jack comes through in the taste just as potent as it comes through in the smell, with the caryophyllene taking on a prominent black pepper taste. The PepperMint Krypt has a bit more of a chemy taste behind it’s very pungent flavour. PepperMint krypt wasn't quite as flavour-forward as Ultra Jolly Jack, but still a very tasty smoke.

Smoothness 4 / 5

The sativa was super smooth, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cough on the first bowl of PepperMint Krypt. After I knew what to expect, I didn’t cough nearly as badly. The rest of the bag was a lovely smoke.

Potency 5 / 5

Both of these were very heavy! Sativas high in Terpinolene always tends to lean heavier for me than others, but this was a very pleasant smoke. This might be a little heavy to wake n bake or start your day with, but a great smoke for getting some stuff done around the house, or even playing a game. Ultra Jolly Jack gave me a slight case of the giggles, which was a pleasant surprise. I feel like I haven’t really got the giggles from weed in probably a decade now. But I dropped my dog off at the groomer before smoking some of this, and spent the whole afternoon laughing to tears at the ridiculous bow they put on him.

The indica certainly feels like an indica that's for sure. On three separate occasions, I tried to smoke a bowl and play some video games. Each time, I had to save and quit my game before going to take a nap or just calling it a night and going to bed altogether. A couple bowls was more than enough.

Duration of Effects 5 / 5

I was down for the count every time I smoked some PepperMint Krypt, so I can’t give this one anything less than a 5/5. I also found that the sativa effects were also surprisingly long in duration. I sometimes find that I need an intermission smoke while I’m completing some chores around the apartment, but I was content getting stuff done with just one or two bowls.

Overall 40.5 / 55   (74%)

7ACRES has never let me down before this, and they weren't about to start now. Did the packaging suck? Yes, absolutely. But if the worst part of this product is the packaging, then there could definitely be worse products to review.

These both smelled absolutely incredible, and a lot of that smell translated directly to flavour. While the buds were nicely trimmed and frosty, it didn't necessarily have the visual “wow” that some other bud has and somehow had me expecting a let down. Boy was I wrong! Both of these strains packed a punch, and the effects definitely seemed to last. I find myself smoking quite a bit when I get home from work, but was surprised how little I needed  to catch a really nice buzz. Beware of that indica though! Holy Smokes, I wasn't expecting that. She put to me bed!

For anyone who is looking to try something festive at this time of year, or simply just wants the ease of variety, this is highly recommended. With two very different strains, they have you covered for your day and night needs.
