Review

It had been quite a while since I had treated myself to anything from Cookies, so back in December I purchased this jar from Uptown Herb in Waterloo. Then… I forgot where I put this jar and it sat for another 3-4 months. At the time of review, the jar was nearly 11 months old, but I want to be clear that this is the fault of nobody else but myself. This would have only been about 7 months old at the time of purchase. So keeping that in mind, let’s see how Cookies holds up after sitting for a while. 

Packaging

I loved the packaging for this, even though some may find it on the more gimmicky side. This came with a clear blue plastic jar, inside of this paper cup designed to look like a small pint of ice-cream. Very cute, but they really made the most of the packaging surface area as well. They included the dominant terpenes, as well as their percentages, the lineage, the flavours, and I was impressed to see that they credited Noya for the grow. 

However, they did put a small spot of glue on the plastic jar to keep it attached to the paper cup. This was a little challenging to remove from the exterior packaging without just tearing the paper cup right off. 

Visual Appeal

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I managed to get to the last bud in the jar before realizing that I forgot to take bud photos. These were pretty average sized buds, mostly light and dark green with the odd speckle of purple found throughout. The trichomes weren’t quite as visible as I wanted, but pretty average. The buds were very well trimmed. Despite being hand trimmed, one might assume these were machine trimmed. 

Bud Size

Pretty average sized buds. The entire 3.5g jar was made up of 5 buds.

Bud Density

I was a little afraid to squish these because of how old the package was, but these weren’t disappointing. Had a good level of density to them.

Moisture Level

I was a little surprised that Cookies didn’t use a humidity control pack, but all things considered this wasn’t too bad. It was a little on the dry side, but if this was consumed within 6 months I doubt this would have been a problem.

Trichome Density

Pretty average, this was one area where I would have liked to see a little bit more. 

Aroma

I opened this jar expecting it to have that typical “old weed” smell but I have never been more incorrect in my life. This jar was incredibly potent on the nose, with a sweet and sour fruity blend. Even despite its age, I haven’t smelled anything this potent in quite a while. Loud as the buds were, they really screamed when you busted them up. 

Taste

AMAZING! The package describes the taste as a “smokey agave, lime” and it definitely has a sweet, citrusy taste but it also has an unmistakable sour tropical flavour, like guava passionfruit. Incredibly tasty, I smoked two bowls back to back initially just because I wanted to be sure that was what I was tasting. 

Smoothness

This burned extremely evenly in a bowl, with some slight coughing but only very lightly. Not enough to trigger an asthma attack or have me running for my inhaler. Overall, very smooth. 

Potency

This wasn’t quite as potent as I would have liked, with effects on more of the balanced to maybe slightly sativa leaning. I didn’t get a lot of sedation, or heaviness behind the eyes but the indica side does have a way of slowly creeping in on you. This might not be a bad option for a relaxing afternoon smoke. 

Duration of Effects

Wanted a little bit more here, but found myself looking for a top-up every so often. 

Overall

All things considered, this was an excellent product. I’ve had some pretty rough luck with purchasing a lot of aging products recently, and was immediately prepared to be disappointed with this jar but that wasn’t the case. Although it was lacking a little bit in potency, the smoking experience was really great. A great flavour, pleasant to smoke, and I really enjoyed the packaging. I probably wouldn’t repurchase this, but I’m not disappointed with the experience I had.
