Review
1337 Elite is one of the WellCann International brands, and I hadn’t had much experience with them up until now. Their HALO Mintz cultivar is a cross of Animal Mintz and Bubba Kush, and I picked this up for $29.99 at Uptown Herb in Waterloo.
Packaging 4/5
Came packaged in a purple mylar pouch and included a Boost pack for humidity control. They also included the total terpene percentage (2.54%) as well as indicated the content of the top 3 dominant terps. We had 1.46% Myrcene, 0.31% Pinene and 0.23% Caryophyllene.
Visual Appeal 3.5/5
Buds were small, light green and very heavy on the machine trimming. Honestly, these were pretty average looking.
Bud Size 2/5
Pretty small buds, the 3.5g bag was made up of 8 small buds.
Bud Density 4/5
These were an okay density, but I was a little worried that if I squished too hard it was going to crumble on me.
Moisture Level 3/5
They included a boost pack in here, but I didn’t find the moisture level was great. Like I mentioned in density, it was wanting to crumble when you squished it. By the second day it could pretty much crumble into your grinder.
Trichome Density 2/5
Very difficult to see any trichomes with the naked eye here. This was one area that was definitely lacking.
Aroma 3/5
Buds had a slightly sweet and earthy smell to them, but really nothing special here.
Taste 2/5
I guess some slightly sweet, herbal flavours, but honestly I didn’t get much of anything here.
Smoothness 4/5
A little bit of the usual coughing, but not too harsh.
Potency 3/5
It was alright, I found myself moving and getting chores done around the house at a slightly slower pace, but this isn’t really a nighttime smoke. When smoked in the morning, I didn’t really get that extra “wake n bake” punch I look forward to.
Duration of Effects 3/5
Nothing to write home about.
Overall 37.5/55 (68%)
This was an incredibly average product if I’m being honest. There was nothing here that really wowed me. I wasn’t super thrilled with the entire experience, I wouldn’t be quick to recommend this product, and I probably won’t bother trying anything else from this brand. At $30 for 3.5g I had at least some level of baseline expectations here, and this was incredibly mid, and at the very least, overpriced. I recognize that this is probably one of the harsher opinions that I’ve had in recent months, but not every product I pick up is going to be great.
